International Workshop on Combating Desertification

In April 2018, Riyadh hosted the International Workshop on Combating Desertification and Innovations in Arid Land Management, organized by the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture in collaboration with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO); over the three days, the workshop convened leading international experts, government representatives, and environmental organizations to explore cutting-edge solutions for rehabilitating marginal lands, advancing saline agriculture, and sustainably managing natural resources in desert environments; the event served as a dynamic scientific platform for exchanging global experiences and showcasing smart technologies to address climate change and land degradation—aligned with the Saudi Vision 2030 for environmental sustainability.
